2009 AUSTRALIAN GRAND PRIX QUALIFYING RESULT

The first race of the 2009 season is gearing up. Today at 2pm and 5 pm local time in Melbourne, Australia, 20 cars raced on the track to determine the starting grid tomorrow. After a tense hour of qualifying round, the result is as fresh as below.

The surprise is the reigning world champion was not in the final Q3 session and the best of all, the poles positions were controlled by the debutant team. This is a strong indicator that the major surprises of how Brawn GP Team did during the testing will be translated into real racing track may come true. This is another sign on how McLaren and Ferrari were really struggle on the track may be true as well.

Anyway, the race say will be at 2pm Sunday afternoon and you can catch the race live on NTV7 and Star Sport (Astro).

* Lewis Hamilton will start from 20th grid due to gear box change. His fourth gear malfunction during the practise which caused the entire replacement of the gearbox.
** The Toyotas will have to start from the back of the grid as well when FIA post qualifying report showed that the team had contravening the rules of regarding the wing. The wings were reportedly in extreme flexibility, against the Article 3.15 of the Technical Regulations. According to Article 3.15, wings must be 'rigidly secured' to the sprung part of the car and not have 'any degree of freedom'.
