Two - Zero - Zero - Eight

I woke up this morning with so much things in my head. I had a handful of vivid dreams that I don't seems to remember. Human's sleeping pattern is unique. We have a cycle of sleep that roughly last for an hour and a half which consists of Rapid Eye Movement (REM) stage and non-REM. The REM ends with a bang, a roughly 5-10 minutes of our dream which may or may not be remembered, which is triggered by a brain structure called pons.

Nope, in this post, we are not talking about sleeps and dreams. Just that I want to enlight you that one of the dreams that I have was very much related to what had happen this year. That was the day when I became The Joker. Yes, in 2008, I become The Joker. Anyway, how's your been? Two-zero-zero-eight is another year that will be flying away in the next hours. So, lets recap my 2008 in my very own rendition.

BERNARD HAD GOOD FOOD OUTING AT PAVILION

Note: I still haven't get any photos from Ah Jess yet regarding the Thursday's outing with Jess and Sharlynn. That day was fun, especially with the "POM POM SHAKALAKALAKA POM" dance. So I just leave it another day for that....(Skip)

Anyway, this is an update from Friday's outing for food searching around Pavilion. It was a shot-gun outing gathering made by Jacquelyn. She called for a gathering on Innit CBOX at 1am!! Well, since only me been available at that time with some possibility that Wilson will be joining us as well, thus we set the time and venue for Friday 2pm at Pavilion KL. Met Jac in front of the newly opened Emperor Q restaurant. The prices looked expensive, so we passed out the idea of trying the food there.

(Reminder: Well, for those who had never step their feet to Pavilion, the floor arrangement is a bit weird. The ground floor is labelled as 3rd Floor, while 1st Floor is actually the underground level or Lower Ground)

Okay, she will be my partner for food searching for the day....

For starter, the lunch was at Pancake House International. Contrary to popular believe that it only serves pancakes, it is not the case for it. They do offer lunch sets of variety foods and styles all at reasonably price of around RM 13.50 to RM15, complete with a package that also include drinks. Visit their website if you wish for at here. We ordered different menu for ourselves.

It contains a crunchy fried chicken, mince-meat pasta, a slice of bread, a raw vegetable-popiah like pita bread, mushroom sauce gravy and a glass of root beer.

This is Jac's, Pan Chicken Special Set...RM 15...
It contains two crunchy fried chicken, tuna macaroni salad, toast and butter, mushroom sauce gravy and a glass of root beer.

RM 15 meal with drinks are something you will considered cheap for a place in Pavilion to have. I enjoyed the meal although I would love if they improved on the fried chicken. Jac speculated that they might be using normal flour for the chicken, which I kind of agreed. On the other hand, the mushroom sauce gravy seems to be addictive. Although a bit salty, I didn't see any leftover of that sauce...simply delicious.

Next, we headed to Bernard's FAVOURITE DESSERT HOUSE/RESTAURANT...
MOF@Japanese Sweet and Coffee
Remember the post back in November? Yes, here am I revisiting it again and it would be Jac's first time at MOF.

This is Jac's, Shiratama Zenzai with Almond Flakes...RM 9
It is a Japanese custom-made red bean paste with dumplings and almond nut flakes on top. It looks nice and the combination seems to be working well. I like the crunchy almond flakes because I stole Jac's one scoop and I loved it, "felt like in Heaven"

This is mine, all time favourite together with Macha Kakigori; Kinako Kakigori...RM 11
It is a Japanese version of Ais Kacang...crushed ice with topping of red bean paste and soy bean powder, with maple syrup as well for sweetener.

Nice food in Pavilion, yes, all you can find it at the price tag of less than RM 50 for two pax in total. That's roughly RM 25 for a main course meal and a heavy dessert. Before we left Pavilion, a camwhore session with Jac.

BERNARD HAD ICE-CREAM FROM M.O.F.

Okay, this is KY style isn't it? KY loves food so much that he can basically blog everything about food. So here is my try, I repeat, my try to blog about food. May be not going to be as good as KY!! (**NOTE: I don't have any camera to capture the picture, simply using my laptop webcam sure do)

Anyway, Sunday - the day after the Nokia Nuffnang Halloween Silent Party...yes it was a rocking and awesome nevertheless. However, I still yet to prepare a proper blog on post-event yet. Not now but it will be soon!!

Anyway, I love that Nokia Thumbdrive that I got during the party. Although people claimed it looks like wristband, and how people insisted that it was a wrist band; this is how I satisfy those people...Yeah, it's a wrist band LOL!!

So the Sunday afternoon, while I was at INNIT C-BOX as usual for meeting nice people from INNIT, I suddenly thought of ice-cream! Not the normal Cornetto or Walls but the one that ones can only find in Pavillion. So I went out to Pavillion that afternoon for the mission to search for the ice-cream, to satisfy my craving for some...*coughing* Japanese Ice-Cream.

So the mission started at Ministry of Food (MOF) where I was made to know that they served very nice Japanese ice-cream. MOF@ Japanese Sweet and Coffee is the place to be if you want to quench and satisfy your throat with some awesome Japanese beverage and desserts. MOF is located at the first floor level of Pavillion KL, opposite the Mercato supermarket, next to JCo Doughnut shop and Food Republic food court. I bet not many people knew much about it, but the shop was full house that day.

So, the ice-cream that I tried, it's called Kakigori. Well, Japanese food lover will assure you that it is the Japanese version of Ais Kacang, but MOF's Kakigori is so different. It is actually a ice-crush ala Ais Kacang ABC. The ice-crush is topped with Hokkaido Gelato Soya Ice-Cream, some red bean paste made according to traditional Japanese way and some caramel sauce.

What best is that it contains no additional preservative, colouring or flavour. The gelato ice-cream is from Hokkaido origin and slurrpy nice and smooth, just like those from Italy. Well, extra sauce of topping made from some maple syrup can be poured to give more natural flavour and increase its sweetness.

But, I have one complaint - why was it so sweet? I was attracted by the instruction given that you will enjoy more with pouring that sauce on it. Anyway, I still love it and just be bear in mind that I will not pour that topping sauce again. Haha, RM11 Japanese dessert, relatively cheap and soothingly delicious. It worth the money and it really made me felt bloated.

Wanna try? Just go down to Pavillion now and enjoy. Kakigori dishes are available as in Mango, Green Tea, Strawberry and Chocolate flavours as well!!
