COCKTAIL MIXING AND TASTING SESSION

It was a pleasure attending such a simple yet thoughtful cocktail mixing and tasting session last Saturday with fellow bloggers. I am pretty sure many have shared their thoughts about it. Here's my own's scribble of mine. It was actually my second time (only) attending such session event where the opportunity to witness the mixologist skillfully mixing the favorite and luscious cocktails from scratch recipes is well beyond any words of random and exciting description.

Thanks to Elwyn's courteous invite, I was able to tag Evelyn along for whom she will be my photographer of the night. The event was held at View Rooftop Bar at G Tower beginning at 8pm. It was also my first time visiting the bar and I was elated with the outcome of my attendance of the event. If you are wondering how to get there, some instructions will be given at the end of this post.

LIFE: HOW TO DO A GOOD CPR?

You are walking along Jalan Bukit Bintang when suddenly you sees a person (imagine a girl, just imagine, err err don't ask why!) lying on the pavement motionless. Now you approach the person girl and start to realize that she must have fainted. Then you do the normal methods of; you know, a good CPR. Out of no where, you panic and you virtually forgot the steps. The teacher at school and at Red Crescent Society have been telling you to perform A B C. Because of the panic, you forgot what A B C is. Such a waste!

Academicians have long been unanimous agree that to learn new stuffs in life, things must get interesting or else you don't even know how to differentiate a math equation, how to memorize human anatomy and et cetera. So why do you read this post? Oh, to learn how to do CPR the easy way, don't you?

HOW TO GO TO NEW YORK FROM CHINA

Certainly at times, Google is very good in playing jokes. Let's take Google Maps for example shall we? Oh, you can do this as well. Just go to http://maps.google.com.my and follow the instruction that I am going to tell you, okay!

SCENARIO: Now, imagine yourself in China now and never mind which part of China is it. So, let's say you want to go to the Big Apple city - New York. Got the situation in your head now? GOOD.
So, you decide to drive and you are lost, what application would be handful? Google Maps. GOOD.
Have you go into the Google Maps already? Now do what exactly I tell you.

STEP 1: Go to Google Maps
Sure you are there now.

STEP 2: Click on Get Directions
Forget about walking, it's too far. Rent a car instead, so click the tab "By Car" - much subtle.

Arrgggh....Engineering questions are never been easy and it takes much more cerebral fluid to handle one of them. It should not be an understatement when I say that the life of an engineering student is never easy. ONLY IN UKM KTM STATION

Everyday, I took KTM Komuter from my place in Serdang to my UKM campus at Bangi. Let me say this, it is not always a pleasant ride. Every morning, I forced my self to wake up at 6.10 am just to catch the 6.50 am train. Then, if KTM Komuter does not give me a bitch delay, I should be able to reach my Kejut fac (yes, people in UKM called our Engineering Faculty as Kejut) precisely at 7.35 am. But been a constant bitch KTM is, they decided to screw the schedule twice last week by coming to Serdang station at 7.15 am, so figure yourself what time I reached my campus.

Well, this is my life which is now associated and tied to UKM KTM station. There is no other mean of transport to choose from, so virtually my life of arriving early or late to my class depends on how bitch mood the KTM Komuter train is.

That is not the only thing about this KTM Station. Please come to this station at around 3.00pm, you will get this scenery:

WHICH IS THE BEST NATIONAL ANTHEM?

Ah, it's been years I didn't update this blog but I guess to welcome myself back into this dead blog, I need to write a post after all to kick start the mood. While the World Cup fever is almost over (in few hours time at the time of writing), the football mood will never die. Since the World Cup fever is almost coming to an end, let me ask whether how many of you have heard and familiarize some of the national anthem of the competing country? One thing about sport, in any kind of it in fact, national anthems will play around for the winners or the competing nations. So no wonder many people says that sports can be a patriotism medium as well.


Now, besides our own Malaysia's Negaraku which you sang every other Monday during school time, what other anthems you love to hear or you deemed is some of the best?

Number 1: GERMAN ANTHEM (Das Deutschlandlied)
It has originally three stanzas so the original song is over four minutes long. The current anthem structure only consists of its third stanza.

DAY TEN: IT'S A BULL DAY

Bull Day. Not really. We in Malaysia do not celebrate the bull raging event or the matador event like our compatriots in Spain. But indeed if we do have one, I would have the potential to fight some bull, teasing them like no one have ever wanted to do so on them. Come on, give me the head-butting, bulls! Watching the matadors at work on the television sets of my home look stylish, elegance and passionate. Teasing the bull with the red cloth can never make any sense but I love the styles of avoiding the sharp horns of the bull. Hasta la vista, baby! Or perhaps the matador could say you cannot catch me! In the end, the bulls are stabbed to death and we all will have the feast tonight!

Cows, bulls or anything in common are called the bovine. Equally, they are not uncommon even in Malaysia. There is a town in the Eastern Malaysia that could have gained much recognition and indeed we love to call it the Buffalo's town or even the Cowboys' town of the East. The small town of Kota Belud, situated in the north of the capital Kota Kinabalu, housed a sizable population of 75,000 with majority Dusun and Bajau ethnic and minority Chinese population.

The small town is well-known among the locals for many things:

(1) It is the gateway point to go to the highest peak in Malaysia, a majestic 4,095 metres high Mount Kinabalu. Ranked the 20th most prominent mountains in the world, the mountain and its surroundings are among the most important biological sites in the world, with over 600 species of ferns, 326 species of birds, and 100 mammalian species identified. Among them are the gigantic Rafflesia plants and the orangutan. Mount Kinabalu has been accorded UNESCO World Heritage status.

(2) The town is known for its Bajau ethnic. There are virtually two types of Bajau; West and East-Bajau have significant differences. The West deals on cattle and live on coastal area while The East lives on seaside and master of fisheries. Kota Belud is the town where you can find the most coastal Bajau ethnic. They have been coined the Cowboys of the East because like the rodeo and Wild Wild West - they ride on horses and managed their flock of cattle, pretty much akin to those in Wild Wild West!

(3) The town has a long history of its Tamu. Tamu is the local open market, where all kinds of food, buffalo, handicrafts and weapons (mostly for decorations) are sold. This is the traditional way of shopping. No K-Mart, Tesco or Carrefour in the area! Every year, Kota Belud town hosted the annual Tamu in bigger extravaganza. It's like a carnival where peoples outside the town flock in to catch the biggest native market of the year.

(4) I did mentioned earlier about buffalos. Yes indeed, the town is famous for its buffalos.

Yes, it's been a bull's Day but Kota Belud is just like nay other towns in Sabah, Malaysia. Filled with the warmness welcome and to the perfect getaways for holidays.

DAY FOUR: ZEE AVI

It's Day Four of my Blogathon Word Count Challenge. I am beginning to appreciate the hardship to blog a post a day. It's been so long I didn't do that but eventually now I am beginning to feel the enjoyment of daily blogging. I know there may be some of the non-Malaysian will eventually take up some time to read my blog and thus, it will be great for me to introduce something from my own country - that's Malaysia.

On Day One I talked about the summer beverage treats from Starbucks Malaysia. Then on the Day Two, I was immersed myself to rant about the film Iron Man 2. On Day Three, I talked about Muse, an international alternative rock group which I have been loved for so long.

Today on Day Four, it's all about Zee Avi. Zee Avi, hailed from Sarawak, Malaysia is one of our many local talents in the relatively small music industry in Malaysia who has go beyond to the international level. As a proud local singer-song writer, guitarist and ukulele player, she has now found her fame internationally following her sign up with the Bushfire Records, a record company owned by Jack Johnson.

One of her many beautiful songs, Bitter Heart. Enjoy this music video and I am sure somewhere somehow you may find this tune very familiar!

DAY ONE: SUMMER TASTE AT STARBUCKS

Hello, this is Day One for the Blogathon Word Count. I have no idea why I ended up joining it but I was rest assured that this is going to be fun. Despite the fact that I have never been blogging so constantly over these few months, I have put myself a challenge, a real tough task to buckle up with the demand for creating one post one day now. One post per day? I used to have one post a week once!

So flexing my muscles and squeezing my brain now!

Summer is inching close. Okay, let's be assured that we in Malaysia do not have summer season because we are blessed with sunshine and rain daily. Blessed or not, there are times when the sun really makes thing so scorching hot. Oh my God, I feel melting now! Fear not! Starbucks Malaysia has introduced a new beverage – a seasonal theme of course.

As we are heading to the heat summer, let us quench our thirst with the new flavor Strawberries and Cream Frappuccino® Blended Cream. I have to say that the new beverage is sweet, filled with the aroma and smells of strawberries, perhaps with some vanilla in it too. iPAD, WePAD, EveryonePAD....PART ONE

Apple, Inc. It is not just about an iMAC, iPHONE, iPOD or iPAD. It is a household brand name that boast the creativeness, drained exactly from the brain of Steve Jobs himself. For me, there are so much to love and to hate about their products. Neverthless in most cases, I have to agree that Apple products has been served as a tester for the customers' taste for current techs; always a step ahead from the others in terms of products placement. They set the early pace for others to follow. Technology is started by them and then improved by others. Is that what it is about Apple? Maybe, look at iPhone for instance. iPhone keeps getting better and better, while other products are catching up too.

iPAD - WHAT IS THIS SHIT?

Here is something I feel that it is no longer something like an iPOD or iPHONE. I was very convinced that this product is even crappier than when iPHONE was first rolled out (although in latter days, I find iPHONE really awesome in some angles). The name itself isn't that pleasant at all, discrimination against the women and it reminds me of tampon and sanitary pad. Why can't they named it iTablet in the first place? It looks like Steve Jobs has no other suitable name for this pad after all.

Anyway, criticism has been lauded on my previous post about it (Click here and read it - that even Hitler can't stand it!). iPad creates even more questions than a better solution for their own problems! iPad will remain as a personal device that works on no multitasking, no camera and everything of the usual Apple's absentees. Although initial reaction has been poor, the users are now getting used to it. Some quarters have expressed their satisfactory for iPad but I'm going to stick to my own opinion that iPad is still SUCKS and CRAPPY. Like I mentioned in my the previous article, iPad reserved only to those who have been fond with Apple's products. iPad can be a success but it will be largely based on the Apple's brand name.

WAIT, iPAD HAS COMPETITORS?

Yes indeed. While iPad began its sales a fortnight ago in Apple-land with sales been deemed underperformed (only 300,000 on Day One after months of pre-sales), Germany's Neofonie launched in what they called an "iPad killer". Rumours have been circling around that the so-called iPad killer or WePAD as some of you may have heard it, as a publicity stunt and hoax. The hoax appeared after many complaint that Neofonie did not showcased a proper prototype of WePad, while the one shown by its CEO Hoffer von Ankershoffen seems to be running on Windows 7. Hoax or not, later it was believed to be something promising. We will have more details when WePad will be officially introduced on April 26.

Then we have some Indian company known as Notion Ink, unveiling their slate tablet PC-like device - Adam. What's unique about this device is that is runs on a Pixel Qi screen display, the one that uses low power to operate. Like WePAD, Adam also runs on the Android OS (WePAD is more of a Linux + Android) and available in a much better processor than iPad.

Technically speaking, Apple iPad's launching has now officially set a war - the war of tablet PC worldwide. In Part Two of my report, we shall look at another 10 upcoming tablet alternative to your much mixed Apple iPad!!

THE FRIDAY OF APRIL 9, 2010 - PART TWO

Sorry for my procrastination! I don't have the kind of mutual inspirations nor any materials to update this blog recently. Smack on my forehead for that! On my original schedule, I wanted to do this post back on last Tuesday but I do not have any good photos to start with. Never mind about the photos; steal one from here and another one from there will be much subtle.

HERE IS PART TWO - COFFEE WITH NUFFIES

For those who has out of the planet recently, Coffee With Nuffies is like Nuffnang's official "Hari Bertemu Pelanggan" or "Meet-The-Clients'-Day". You know Nuffnang? The one who sponsors my advertisement to refinance this blog? Yeah! It is a monthly event where 5 bloggers will be invited for up and exclusive coffee session, chit chat and some detention room (nope, I am not kidding). Alright then that I was one of the fortunate five to be able to taste their coffee and what's not. I guess they will only do it on Friday because you will notice how awesome their office are during this day. I mean, seriously, when everyone is there to play Band Hero!

So, what did we do on that day?

1. The coffee session started with of course, a cup of tea/milo/coffee/what ever they have on that day. Served with hot and yummy curry-puffs bought by Robb himself.

2. Then, the session became a mocking for the route I took just to come to the Nuffnang office when raindrops were falling so heavy on top of my head! I know many are cracking their head what the picture above really mean. Go guess!!

3. Sight-seeing around the orange office. Somebody commented that it looks too much alike 8TV.

4. Brought into the detention room for some tutorial and lecture on how to NUFF it to the NANG!!

What did I learned that day?

It is not about what did I learned on that day. It is sort off to confirm my auspicious and theory (overstatement!). Rephrase. It is sort off to validate my knowledge about how Nuffnang can really work on our blogs.

So, here are some stuffs to be highlighted:

1. You want to blog an event, make sure your traffic is high enough to attract the advertiser.
2. Ad space on your blog works like a bidding zone. Only a certain amount of ads will appear on a certain time in a day.
3. Traffic is important, not NANGS on Innit!
4. Proper placement of ads can help you earn of something.
5. Know Nuffnang's competitor. Text link or text ads are not, but rival banner ads are. So, no issues with Google Adsense after all, but placing Adgitize, Advertlets or Innity will cause your Gliterrati membership revoked.
6. Nuffnang is always vigilante about ads clicking. Click once to check the ads, fine! But massive clicking exchange is a no no.How to win a contest? Put more effort, create something different, check other people's entries first before you do your own and possibly - video, animation and photos over post.

Ok, kudos to Nuffnang for having such an insightful event at this small scale. It's great to meet other peoples and listen to what they have to say. Besides, you may get your doubts answered by the reliable sources about how to earn or how to win or how to blog. Once again, thanks Nuffnang for the invites though!

THE FRIDAY OF APRIL 9, 2010 - PART ONE

As usual, the sun rises from the East. A usual massive jam along Jalan Tun Razak. A 'white pigeon' aka traffic police would rounded up his routine along the exit from Jalan Bukit Bintang towards Jalan Tun Razak. The day runs as usual but there is something that makes it a little different today.

9.25AM

It all started out with an amazing news that partly affects me in every way. I would not want to get that into details but lets be assured, I must keep the story going! Somehow, I managed to grab Bibiana together. So, she ended up been my driver-for-the-day. Come on, you know how 'awesome' is our public transports are. I mean, getting from KL to PJ and then back to KL is not an easy task after all. But we makes the scene more merrier when she brought along her friend darling and I brought my darling Evelyn too. Four's a crowd they say!

11.35AM

First stop at GSC HQ at Damansara Jaya (Seksyen 22). It was a quick one to grab my 2010 OSCAR PREDICTION CONTEST goodie bag. The goodie bag looks decent especially when it was wrapped up with the GSC wrapping paper though.

Then headed over to my second stop at Packet Hub (Jalan Templer). But looking for that green building was really agonizing. After spinning for like an hour around the area while at times it looks amazingly confusing, we arrived and I quickly grab my HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON contest prize from the Ruumz.

Headed for a lunch as Seksyen 2 with the three girls. Then Evelyn and me headed back to KL. I then attended the Coffee with Nuffies session at Nuffnang HQ (Asian Heritage Row is nearby).

ANOTHER TOP ARTIST ADMITS HE IS GAY, SO WHAT?

It is no longer a surprising news any more. But the fact that Yahoo Music covers a story on Ricky Martin has finally raised up the answer that fans have been waiting for all these while. Not just any sensational news after all considering the Latino singer has been keeping quiet about his personal life for so long. Indeed his decision to finally admit that he is a GAY comes by no surprise at all and I have to ask him is why it took him so long to admit it. I do not have anything against the gays and lesbians. Practically these are their to preach and I as an outsider will never pass any judgment for what they believe and stand for.

In his website, after much speculation, he said, "I am proud to say that I am a fortunate homosexual man." He went on to say, "I am very blessed to be who I am." There are many rumors ever since he started his great music career and his decision few years back to adopt two twin sons do however sparkles the issue. Now that he admits he is, leave him alone from all these taboos and unsatisfactory, or any bad perception towards the pop star. He deserves his life after all.

To keep living as I did up until today would be to indirectly diminish the glow that my kids where [sic] born with. Enough is enough. This has to change. This was not supposed to happen 5 or 10 years ago, it is supposed to happen now. Today is my day, this is my time, and this is my moment

People who knew Ricky Martin as a whole would have never failed to notice the on-off romantic relationship with Mexican TV host Rebecca de Alba. That lasted for 14 years, filled with period of talks of starting a family together and at a point Martin planned on proposing. It seems that those changes after the release of his third English album Life back in 2005. Martin went on to adopt his sons in August 2008. It was a difficult life for him but we love his music, his work to serve the humanity and his achievements. We simply loves him.

As in any Hollywood stuffs, it may takes a moment before one admit his real sexual orientation. Let's take last year's American Idol runner-up as an example. While Adam Lambert was still on the competition, the wildfires spread across the scene about his true sexual orientation with pictures of him kissing another guy made the day's headline. He remained silent until the American Idol days were over.

Ellen Degeneres. Who does not know this lady with the much funny to her core instincts in within? The now part of the American Idol judge has been revealing her lesbian life back in 1997 in The Oprah Winfrey Show. Now she is married to long time partner Portia de Rossi since 2008.

Also recently admitting he is a gay is none other than Sean Hayes, popular for his role as Jack McFarland in NBC's sitcom Will & Grace. He has been long refused to discuss about his sexuality until an interview with The Advocate this month and said, " feel like I’ve contributed monumentally to the success of the gay movement in America, and if anyone wants to argue that, I’m open to it. You’re welcome, Advocate."

When talking about gay, who should left him behind. The British very own Elton John. Back in 1976, in an interview with The Rolling stone, he talked about bisexuality and his first sexual experience with a secretary Linda Woodrow. He thought of marrying her but While having serious doubts about the looming marriage, John contemplated suicide but he managed to rise back. Thus, comes the the song we all loved to listen to "Someone Saved My Life Tonight" - a hit single back in 1975. Then life goes on for him until today, he is in a civil partnership with David Furnish.

Not many knew but here is another gay. You know him for his womanizer role in How I Met Your Mother. Neil Patrick Harris is a funny man that charms us with his spectacular persona. He came into public and admitted gay in 2006, having relationship with David Burtka since 2004.

Hollywood's land of gay and lesbian - is nothing new. Perhaps, it takes time for them to reveal their true sexuality but it is also a choice they have to commit. Like Ricky Martin's case, no one should blame who and instead life goes on. We should see things like what the Western see. While we may not agree that the sexual orientation as such is deemed normal for us, it is still a choice for them to pursuit. Gay or not, lesbian or not - these artistes have entertained us for years. I am neither supporting nor going against gay and lesbian, it is what they see are more important than what we see.

Earth Hour 2010, an awareness program to cultivate the cultures and lifestyles that will contribute to climate changes.

Earth Hour is a global event organized by WWF (World Wide Fund for Nature, also known as World Wildlife Fund) and is held on the last Saturday of March annually, asking households and businesses to turn off their non-essential lights and other electrical appliances for one hour to raise awareness towards the need to take action on climate change. Earth hour was conceived by WWF and The Sydney Morning Herald in 2007, when 2.2 million residents of Sydney participated by turning off all non-essential lights. Following Sydney's lead, many other cities around the world adopted the event in 2008. Earth Hour 2010 will take place on March 27, 2010 from 8:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., local time.

Therefore, to attribute my support for Earth Hour 2010, GreenTeaWorld decided to:

1. Switch off any lights and non-essential electrical appliances (except refrigerator)
2. Will not sign into Twitter, MSN and Facebook (No internet for the period of time)
3. Will not using any vehicle (if I'm going out for dinner later)
4. Will not be updating any blog posts
5. Will not using mobile phones to text (save battery)

So, that is what I'm going to do later at 8.30pm.
