If you have followed the local news recently, I am sure we all have heard of the issue. This conclude what I am about to say. You ready? It is a shame that the MCA (Malaysian Chinese Association), the oldest Chinese-based political party in Malaysia is again rocked by the internal issues.
Not long ago, there was MCA A and MCA B teams throwing plastic chairs and exchanging abusive words among each other. That was when Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik was the president. The issues was none other than lack of understanding between president and deputy president.
That was a decade ago but history tends to get repeated again and again.
In 2009, we have another crisis looming and ruining the credibility of MCA yet again.
It all started when this dude was captured having SEX with some woman. Those savoring moments ended up in a DVD and widely distributed early 2008. He was the vice president back then and how Malaysian celebrated the New Year of 2008 was by accepting the confession made by he himself, admitting that he was the person featured in a sensational sex DVD that was widely being circulated in Johor. So, he quited all posts within the party and cabinet.
October last year, this dude in the meanwhile won the president post by beating the other opponent - Datuk Dr Chua Jui Meng. He was the top and the earlier dude also made an amazing political comeback by winning the deputy president post by beating then secretary-general Datuk Seri Ong Ka Chuan - proving otherwise that his popularity remained high.
But those were history and quickly last months, two separated events but pretty much related to each other occured and again the boat of MCA was heading for a split yet again.
FIRST - The "Edison" dude was removed from his deputy president post for allegedly tarnishing the party’s image over the disclosure in late 2007 of a secret recording showing him engaging in sex acts with his mistress - which is BULLSHIT and NOT AT THE RIGHT TIMING TO DO AS WELL.
SECOND - The "KingPin" was accused of receiving donation money of RM 10 million in three separate cash installments by Datuk Seri Tiong King Sing, CEO of Kuala Dimensi Sdn Bhd as "donation" while the deputy CEO Datuk Faisal Abdullah also said in the same report that Ong had used the company’s private jet five times, incurring fuel and other expenses amounting to US$40,000 which Ong admitted.
SO WHAT NOW?
Some ask the "KingPin to step down while he himself is trying his best to defend his right, probably will be holding an EXTRAORDINARY GENERAL MEETING in within 30 days. What is the point? Even his rival-"Edison"s supporter are asking him to abdicate as well.
Who ever is true or not is no longer a matter. The point is you are tarnishing the credibility of MCA which I never cared for my whole life. Since MCA is like the image symbol of the Chinese community in Malaysia, I felt insulted that such peoples are loitering around - what a disgrace!
Another drama or not - it still shows those goons will never changed. The same fact goes to those cronies within the BN as well - and I assumed that every goon on that "weight-leveller' party is just as corrupted as each other. Money, money, money - all about money but it never been used in a proper way.
First of all, the title above is merely a title. It does not give you any implications that I would say music and politics should never mix. So don't give me those kind of looks that suggesting that I may be misleading you. Okay, I sense obsession and knowledge coming in!
Anyway, our topic for today is "Music and Politics Should Never Mix?" Alright, it sounds misleading again!
According to the Unofficial Green Tea Bern dictionary, the word "Music"defined as a form of entertainment tools that cultivates the music, lyric and melody arrangement and uses them to deliver some form of messages and ideas of life, points of view, hidden codes and other form of expressions to its listeners to highest appreciation as possible. Okay, it sounds like a school kids writing an essay, but my point here is that everyone enjoys music, regardless of music and subjected to the genre they appreciated the most.
Considering music as a form of communication to deliver those joys and saddest moment in a human life, and also recognizing the fat that human do communicates, no one can imagine nor underestimates the important of music in our life.
But what about politics and music had been together?"Politics"are a form of process where people making important decisions that may involves struggle for absolute power, while been influenced throughout the process with ultimatum idealism, religions and intellectual thinking. Okay, can somebody slap me for giving too much academic definitions, please!
Whether music and politics should be mix or not, is not a main question actually because whether our consciousness is still within you or not, I do believe that both have already mixed in the first place. Yes, while I was soul searching the other day, YES - Music and Politics - two separate entities should mix.
When I said they have both mixed up in the first place, they do.
Music influences, so does politic.
Music inspires, politics inspire too.
Music reaches people, politic reaches as well.
Music is entertaining, politics are even entertaining.
(Okay, forget about the last statement.)
In the recent development of entertainments, people now use entertainment as a main idea to create revolution in thinking, to create awareness and to create sensational within the community. Let us step aside a bit from music, just look at movies like Fahrenheit 9/11, a documentary movie that creates sensational political interruption on the events of 911. Implications, it was big and it was absolute sensational as well. Later trends, movie becomes a subject matter of streaming your political sects into the audience, injecting the fuel of passion, patriotism and idealism.
Music is doing it as well if you have been thinking ignorance is something like bliss. As we speaking, let me remind you of the best example we have few years back. In 2003, US invaded Iraq, toppling the then-dictator Saddam but eventually creating collateral damages of death among civilians and US soldiers. In 2004, US President George W Bush was seeking for re-election into the office. It was that time Green Day came into slamming the US policies under Bush administration by producing a mega blockbuster scale album - 'American Idiot' back in 2004. You have heard songs like 'American Idiot' and 'Wake Me Up When September Ends' enough, and you will know how much the album, the songs and the band itself become a mastermind that create a new wave of revolution and idealism.
Muse’s album in 2004 as well – 'Black Hole and Revolution', was a tribute to the band’s interests on science fiction and political order. Not really an extreme taste of ‘New world Order’ concept or any reformation concept injected in, but an idealism-creativity to spread the message of ideas for a political stance they believed in. That album went on to be one of the best-selling albums that year.
Not only peoples like Green Day and Muse were doing it, in fact from time to time, even more and more artistes are doing it by fueling their songs with political sentiments that caused uprising in the mentality and virtuosity. Look at US again; music and other form of entertainments did so much of their role during the Presidential Election late last year. I simply believe, see it, feel it and hear it - that music is an instrument to deliver the political message.
People says politics are dirty game of corruption and bad attitude. True, but when using music in a right way, it turns something ugly into something bold and beautiful. As I am trying to say, artistes have a rightful nobility and responsible to turn their good music to nurture their listeners for a push on revolution and idealism for mentality development to the greatest effort to change our society and what we believe in. Music influences our life and we may quickly love a song that pleases us. In the end of the day, music contains the idea of story and it’s like listening to some sermon or speeches of an icon we admired the most.
Too bad, our society still can't accept much of this revolution in life. Bold singers like Jason Lo, our very own Malaysian artistes whom songs like 'Evening News' and'Sleepyhead' are enough to create sensational hits while the story behind the lyrical melody is political-fueled. Yet, we love him.
In the end of the day, even though I am pushing forward the idea that music and politics should mix, it is still best we leave the matter to the outside world of listeners to judge. Music plus politic equals a revolution! Sounds too extreme but I am not an extremist - merely a mentality changes in our society.
So, for both of you, ‘Music’ - play it responsibly and you, ‘Politics’ - please behave and be nice. Okay, I sound sarcastic now!
Last checked on Microsoft Words, 985 words – Just nice!

On this beautiful second Sunday of the month of March, I would like to remind you that today is in fact 8th of March. Okay, now you ask, what is so special about this day?
Every year, this day is been specially observed as United Nation's International Women's Day. On this day we shall be reminded of the struggle the women had endured for the freedom they have today. I'm not trying to be a feminism here but merely speaking out of truth. You see, the challenges that the women face daily are not merely about their daily personal life, but also encroaching other aspects such as domestic violence, human trafficking, social deprivation in certain countries and so much more.
International Woman's Day or known as IWD in short is a major day for recognizing the economic, political and social achievements of women worldwide. This is actually differs from other women-related celebrations such as Mother's Day and St Valentine's Day as on this day the celebration is more well focus to recognize the political and human rights.
"On occasion of 2009 International Women's Day the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) has warned that the specific health-care needs of women are often ignored or insufficiently taken into account in war situations. In the world’s least developed countries, many of which are at war, women are 300 times more likely to die in childbirth or from pregnancy-related complications than in developed countries, according to UNICEF. While armed conflicts and other violence affect entire communities, women are particularly at risk of rape and other forms of sexual violence. Because of poor security conditions or because they have no means of transportation, it is often impossible for women to reach a health-care facility so as to give birth safely."
The day is an official holiday in many countries like Albania, Brazil, China, Georgia, Italy, Laos, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Russia and Vietnam. Men will usually observe the day by giving the women in their lives - mothers, wives, girlfriends, daughters and colleagues with flowers and small gifts.
In Romania, the day is celebrated as an equivalent to Mother's Day. In Italy, the men will give yellow mimosas to the women as a symbolic.
Apart of the IWD celebration on 8 March, another event that I think i will love to point out is that today is the first anniversary of the outcome and aftermath of 12th General Election. Everyone knows what happen after last year's March 8. The ruling party didn't get two-third of parliamentary majority as they arrogantly always do so, in fact we saw the rises of the opposition. Therefore there was the swift and changes due to the political tsunamis. 365 days after the important date, many issues remain unsolved, creating more question marks on our head. Also, there were some still having their weekly house meeting under a tree, how ironic is this Malaysian politics, which makes me sick and if you notice, I seldom blog about it here now.
It's been ages I wrote anything political to challenge my mentality and it is really hard to do so.
I guess from today onwards, we should be proud that Malaysia is a nation with the most frogs in the world. Not the amphibians I'm afraid. These frogs can simply leap here and there. When things like these can turn ugly, they leave a pool of dungs on both side. This is what we can visualize by labelling them 'froggies' as they can jump-boarding where ever they want. Been a free country but low in intelligence, this is Malaysia, welcome to the land of 'froggies'.
I personally disagree with those elected representatives been ignorant to the voters who voted them by leap-frogging sides. Before the election, they proudly claimed they were the deserved one, promising they will do what ever their best for the people they are representing. However, when they won the election, they behave above any God. For personal gain, they will move to the other party. Been ignorant and irresponsible to those whom voted for them. Mind you, people voted for the candidates based on political ideology not whether you are some famous figure or not.
Enough of the methaphor, back to the business. The frogs that I mentioned are actually refering to the four Perak State Assemblymen whom jump-ship from Pakatan Rakyat (People's Alliance) to Barisan Nasional hours ago. The four are Behrang's Jamaluddin Mohd Radzi, Changkat Jering's Mohd Osman Mohd Jailu, Jelapang's Hee Yit Foong and recently defected Bota's Nasarudin Hashim. The defections occur again in what we the Malaysians are hoping for a push towards a liberal and democratic politic scenario. However, the hopes that the oppositions hope for had backfired them dearly.
The chaotic situation in Perak today is not something new. Let's turn our attention to what had happened 15 years ago when the same 'froggie' issue occured in Sabah. In 1994, Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) won the state election, thus retaining the power in Sabah. However, they only grabbed 25 out of 48 state seats which can be vital as things can changed if 1 or 2 jump aboard. At the same time, UMNO is trying to penetrate its wing into Sabah. The froggie issue materialize 3 weeks later following massive exodus of the PBS assemblymen to leap into BN, thus increasing the power the UMNO had where many had joined UMNO back then.
Last year during the 2008 General Election, the Malaysians seen a great tides of tsunami that had changed the political landscape. The ruling BN lost its two-third majority, while the oppositions led by PKR, DAP and PAS gained much grounds. The momentum continues when PR won the previously held 2 by-elections. As it stands today, BN has 137 in parliament, PR (with PSM) has 82 while independences have 3. However, the PR's momentum in Malaysia politics were halted when the Perak PR-led government was on verge of collapse.
As of 6pm, it was assured that the BN will now lead the Perak state if it is confirm that BN now have 31 to 28 PR state seats from previous 28-31. Leap-frog as this is called, they are fortunate for there is no law that forbids one from doing so. Maybe it is fated, PR cannot last long if BN is still in power. I think their next step is to reclaim Kedah back or even Selangor.
Whatever the situation is, with the issues hanged in balance between BN and PR, the best solution is to submit the power back into the Perakian voters. Although this is the realistic approaches, things are not likely to be done. There is no way a fresh election will be called because of several reasons; the royal family may get threats if calls for fresh election was made, the majority will always win, PR entities are treated seperately while all BN components are considered one and the imminent 'froggies' around. The peoples' voice will be back in the next general election. Till then, PR - learn from what had happened in Sabah 15 years ago.
I HATE FROGGIES LEAPING, SERIOUSLY. They are the traitors of the voters. I guess I'm not the only one who shared the opinion about how annoying the 'froggies' are.
These days the Churches and The Christian Federation of Malaysia (CFM) have voice their hopes that the Government will allow Bible to be published in Bahasa Malaysia (BM). Why not since our government is so supportive in the usage of BM in our daily life. The government however has restrict the usage of Bible in written BM. "Though special exemption was made for this Bible to be used by Christians in churches, in this modern day and age when almost anything can be accessed on the Internet, it is regrettable that our Holy Scriptures are still seen as ‘prejudicial to the security’ of the country,” said Rev Dr Eu Hong Seng, vice-chairman of CFM.
Let me tell you something why Bible cannot be published in BM. The reason is that publishing the Holy Bible in Malaysia is a crime. What worst to come is that the crime is punishable by one law; be fearful people, it is the Internal Security Act (ISA). According to the ISA Section 22 (1), the government had indeed placed the Bible as a dangerous tool!!
Article 22 (1) of ISA states that certain publications and documents are considered unlawful if it contains any:
Incitement to violence
Counsels disobedience to the law or to any lawful order
Likely to a breach of peace, or to promote feelings of hostility between races or classes of the population
Prejudicial to the national interest, public order or the security of Malaysia
So, it seems like having the Holy Bible in BM is a violation of the fourth point. Suddenly, I ponder upon the question of on how a holy religious book can be such a "prejudicial to the national interest, public order or the security of Malaysia". I can't help laughing when I read that statement again and again.
On the other hand, a Catholic newspaper The Herald may push things a little further by taking the Malaysian Government to court for allegedly violating the rights of religious minorities by refusing to let the publication to use BM. See here we go again, same issue, regarding the use of BM. Apparently the Home Ministry had restricted them from using BM for the newspaper's multi-lingual editions. Rev. Lawrence Andrew, editor of the Herald, said the newspaper sent a letter to the ministry Friday to appeal the order. If there is no response in seven days or the decision is not retracted, the Herald will consider legal action against the government. A bold move!!
Bold as it seen, this is the second time The Herald is bringing up matters against the Government by court. The Herald has sought a court order to challenge the government’s ban last year on its use of "Allah". A hearing is scheduled for next month. Yes another bold move!!
But what is the chances of over-turn the decision?
In Malaysia, which deem as a role model of a multi-religious, multi-cultural and multi-ethnicity nation, it is unfortunate that there are some party is trying so hard to preserve and protect what the majority have by suppressing the underlings and the minorities. This is their policy as such and evidently, we have see throughout these 50 years this nationhood stands. Priority in this and that! Advantage on this and that! So if the minorities are to able to stand on their own feet, guess what, they did it on their own. It is time to re-consider the way of life we are heading for the next century. Live to spoon-feed or learn to scoop on your own.
It is kind a hard life to live as a minority. As a minority living here in Malaysia, why can't the Government open their eyes wide enough to see this. What makes you think the Bible is a dangerous tool that can destroy the nation? And what makes you think that by writing Christianity in BM can doom the nation? I guess only those who can't think out of their little boxes, those who are ignorant enough and those who are so ultra-conservative can come out with such idea. It will be a less-critical thinking if you think that by writing Christianity in BM can destroy the faith of one, thus creating havoc and chaos. So as for me, why not BM?
I have a hiatus for about 2 weeks from any inking or commenting from any political issues that we have in Bolehland. Seriously, I got fed-up with those kind of peoples who constantly get attention and appear in the front page of dailies of so-called the mainstream media. Can anyone reminded me when was the last time in a newspaper itself, there wasn't any comment, complaint or opinions that don't talk about politics? Sorry, I don't remember any of them. In fact, Bolehland today and Bolehland before March 8th this year are so different.
Recently, during the Permatang Pauh by-election, this third-tier leader, a branch leader in Penang made a remark that said all the Chinese in Bolehland were "squatter" and "immigrants". It was reported in mainstream media, and drew many critism and furious uproar from various community. He said what for he want to apologize, citing that he had done nothing wrong. Later he warned the Chinese not to be like American Jewish, whom deemed to have dominate the economy and trying to creep into the political arena as well. Few days ago, he was suspended for three years from his any party posts - so that is what the cocky guy get for all he had remarked.
Here's my opinions on this cocky dude, which I have kept for so long, finally there's no holding back:
What gives him the right to challenge the citizenship of the Chinese community in Malaysia? Chinese in Malaysia is Malaysian, Malay community is Malaysian, Indian too is Malaysian, the natives community in Malaysia is also Malaysian. Please be remember Mr Ahmad that those who are not the Malaysians are the PATI from Indonesia and Phillipines, or recently many VISA holder that travelled to Malaysia for social visits, study and business. The Constitution clearly stated the Malaysian's right for citizenship. Clearly, you have challenged the Constitution itself!
What makes you think that Chinese deserves the title "Immigrant" for you? When my grandparents first arrived in Sabah in 1905, they were the one who worked in timber industry for the sake of economy. I believe most of our grand or great-grand parents when they first came here also involved in many economical sectors. I give you a better example, Lim Goh Thong (Sorry, if I mispell your name) first came to Malaysia with only few cents, later he became the tycoon of Genting. I must said that we are proud of our ancestor which had done so much for this country just like everybody else. Too bad, this cocky never remebered their efforts.
What makes you think that your ancestors are not immigrant as well? Mr Ahmad, some blog site claimed that your ancestory were from India. So does the other bogus PHD candidate, who is actually a Mamak (India Muslim, not Malay). So does many other Malays were their ancestory maybe came from Arab, India or Indonesia. Maybe yourself is an immigrant. We never questions about your status of citizenship but yet you did it. Does living in Bolehland gives you every rights to slam other peoples from other races. My Malay friends never said these hurting remarks to me. But you did that in a ceramah, which proof my theory as correct -you are so immature than many school children!!
What makes you think we dominate the economy? Let us say thanks to PM number 2, Tun Abdul Razak for brain-childing the NEP. NEP no doubt has helped many Malays to escalate in many aspect of life. Nowadays, I see many rich Malay families and I had no problems with that. I came from a middle-income family and I don't see it as a problem at all. Look at yourself, Mr Cocky, some director from some company. Aren't you suppose to be proud for holding such a job, having two bungalows, saved from bankrupcy because you have an "economy resources" yet you said we dominates. Where's your bungalows came from? You are not entitled to ask this kind of thing. Just be blessful of your wealth.
What makes you think we want to become American Jews? Hello, we are not Jews and we never practise Sabbath, okay. We work and play on weekends just like everyone else, not sitting on the couch doing nothing on Sunday. By the way, what makes you think that we want to take over the PM helm? Did you speak through your brain or ypu just uttered it out just like that?
So in the end of the day, you only got suspension. And Mr Cocky later after knowing his three years suspension said, "Why should I apologize? I have done nothing wrong". Fine he refused to say sorry but what about asking GERAKAN to pull out of your coalition and tearing Mr. Koh's head , literally meaning the picture. Was not that racism act from you and your bunch of circus? Why no question been raised about it? What had the Chinese people had done wrong for this country? Was not racism in extreme form a threat to the national security? Because of your remarks, everyone scared. Some more, you warned that there will be May 13 the Second soon. Peoples nowadays are smart, we need to work and study, where can we have time to do all this barbarian stunts?
Guess what happened this morning? A reporter from Sin Chew Daily was arrested for ISA, because she made reports on our Cocky's statements. Later, I also saw our sassy MP's name as well, Theresa Kok in it for allegedly something to do with national security again. Also detained yesterday was RPK. Holy man, what is wrong with the country? So, where is Ahmad's name I wonder?
Wow, ISA here and ISA there. Can Somebody Do Something? Please Stop Racism Remarks!!!
