A Day In Paeds Clinic

Today is 23th December...meaning the clock is ticking even closer to the Christmas day itself. It is only 2 days left on the calender, yet the mood for some holiday season had already begun since like last Friday. Today I have a great time in the children dental clinic since today it is my turn to be there and I have an appointment with one of my children. Due to medical and legal etiquette, I will not post or upload any pictures of the clinic itself here. Just let the words tell it all.

I have an scheduled appointment with one of my patient today. His father brought him a bit late than usual and requested me to deal with their son's carious teeth. Since this is my first time encountering him, I was surprised that the child had some sort of genetic disorder disease. No matter what the child had, it was my responsible to treat his case too.

I never heard of the disease and it did nothing to ring any of my bells because simply because I never learn it before. The child is 6 years-old, a happy-go-lucky boy but unfortunately suffered from a rare genetic disorder called Noonan Syndrome. This disease is not fatal and does not possesses any harm to the child himself. during the treatment, he seems to be not in any state of anxiety but as time goes by he get a bit tired and irritated, as in all case of children that attends the dental clinic.

I managed his carious front tooth for about half an hour and then before he left, I gave him some cookies and water for him and his siblings. Watching them left, I felt the warmness in their family. Although they may not be celebrating Christmas because they are Indian Muslim, I still think of how appropriate the timing for me to post this up. A family warmness during hard time or great time were shared among all others.

I may not be able to go back during this Christmas but I do hope those who are able to do so to really use the time to reflect on the year that we have just been through. 2008 is raising its curtain soon. So what have your year been? Good or bad are just part of it. Lets look forward for a brand new year.

Today I learnt a few thing:
1) The warmness family relation is what it matters - it doesn't matter if one of them are less unfortunate than the others, the essential part is the familyhood itself. A family endures good and bad time together.

2) Noonan Syndrome is a relatively common genetic disorder which affects every 1 in 1000 to 2500 live births. It is regarded as a male version of Turner syndrome. he principal features include congenital heart malformation, short stature, learning problems, indentation of the chest, impaired blood clotting, and a characteristic configuration of facial features of webbed neck, wide spaced eye and low set ear. These kids are not asked to born in such a way...I really pity them!!

STARBUCKS CHRISTMAS CHEER PARTY

As I have mentioned in my previous post regarding the planned event by Starbucks, here is a summary of what happened yesterday during the event. If you do not know what I am talking about, go here.

Christmas season is just kicking around its corner. Yet, this is the Christmas tree in Berjaya Times Square...it look nice.

So it is a Christmas Cheer Charity party which was attended by four peoples - me, Renaye, Shon Chong and of course Karena (and her friends) as the official photographer representing Nuffnang (or rather unofficial). The party started at 6pm with people were already there swamping on the food. The stuffs I brought were very heavy - books, toothpastes and etc..I virtually spent my whole afternoon bringing those stuffs around with me.

The foods.....pastries and iced coffee...oh, there are good except some that Renaye thought it can be done better.

The children, majority of them were the orphans from an orphanage belonged to a church group, while there were some brought by their parents as the party guest. Those children looked cute and very eager to joion the party. They had a colouring contest and some balloon making and shaping performance by a guest clown.

JJ The Clown....

SC trying to con the kids while Puspa observing him

Colouring sessions

So me and SC decided to do our own rendition of having our fun time with the children...SC is master with magic trick, LOL!!

After that we also have a special session called "Coffee tasting" conducted by Puspa, a store manager and the coffee master whom I knew. She conducted a few sessions of it for me previously and the coffee that we tasted was none other than the Starbucks Christmas Blend, a compelling flavour to suit the Christmas.

That was a choir as well but they only expert at singing one song - I'm Yours by Jason Mraz. They tried to sing christmas songs but they always ended up forgetting the lyrics...LOL!!

So before the party ended with a Santa Clause suddenly made an appearance. What else, giving sweets and candies to the children of course...

Well, It was a great event, but Karena and SC were complaining that the Starbucks "didn't turned on the air-cond". Karena took a lot of pictures with her *cough cough* camera. So, I'm waiting for her pictures to be on her blog.

Anyway, before I left...I need you guys to vote on something. Yes, see the little girl on green shirt on the picture above? Her name is Paris Yap. Cute but a very shy little girl. I try to take her one-person photo but she dragged one of her friend together. I want you to compared her with....

Parui Hilton??

Which one you prefer? Drop your votes on the comments.

P/s:
By the way, for the answers of the riddle from the last post entry I made..

When someone said this to you, "AAA BBB AAB BBA ABB BAA ABA BAB BBD EDD DAB AEE" How would you reply?

The answer is: "Long Time No C"

STARBUCKS NOW USHERING YOU INTO A NEW YEAR

Starbucks is now having a great deal to offer; for you to get ushered into a brand new year soon. 2009 is only about 29 days to go which also means that we only have 28 days left before we say adios to 2008. So reflect on the year, what have you done?

A brand new year will not complete if you don't have a new year resolution, or a simple diary or a planner to keep your daily routine organizer. Oh please, they won't be any Blackberry, N96, Sony Ericsson Xperia or BMW cars!!

A planner by Starbucks will enough though.

At first I thought, it is just an ordinary planner. Wait until I open it.

This is how the planner looks like, a brown leathery-soft with some leaves pattern engraved on its cover. Also, a green elastic band on it to act as a lock, to open and close the planner.

The first page, followed by a foreword - "Begin. Grow. Flow."

Also, noticed in one page that this journal @ planner is made to commemorate Starbucks 10th anniversary in Malaysia on the 17th December 2008. That is a fortnight from today.

Then on each month, the pages are accompanied by a calender on the right and an interesting illustration on the left. These illustrations and graphical arts are a simple story to tell how coffee are made and how they influence our life directly or indirectly. Then, the next pages are dedicated for your journal entries.

So, you want to get your hand on these planners. It is easy, go to any Starbucks outlets and get it for RM 18 for each, with no tax applied. Every RM 1 from each purchase will be donated to the needy. The Starbucks 2009 planner, a good gift for Christmas and for charity at the same time.

Get yours now, while promotion and stock lasts.

FOR SOME CHARITY DURING THIS HOLIDAY

Christmas is really coming to town!! It is about a month to go for us to celebrate perhaps, the happiest day in the whole year. Are you not excited that the Christmas is coming? Well as I mentioned earlier in my post early this month; whether you are celebrating it for the religious purpose to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ or you just simply celebrate it as a time for gathering among our beloved family and friends, it does not matter the most. What matter is who are we celebrating with and how enjoyable you are wishing it will be. I am sure some of you are now scratching your head, trying to figure out what you want to get for your loved one. A new clothes, a new pair of shoes, perhaps a new books, and sort of?

Instead of cracking your head thinking what to buy for ourselves and for our beloved one, have we ever thought of other people who are less fortunate?

Yes, Starbucks Coffee will be organizing some Cheer Charity Party at this coming December. Are you interested to join?

What it is about? Starbucks will be organizing a Christmas party but more sort of in a charity way. They are planning to bring over some kids from (undetermined yet) some orphanages to be celebrated together during the party.

When it is? It will be held on the Thursday, 4th December 2008, 6.00pm

Where it is? It will be held at Starbucks Coffee Berjaya Times Square, Ground Floor (Mezzanine Level), at the main entrance and opposite The Domes.

Who are coming? Actually anyone can come, but you have to give out your RSVP to them as soon as possible.

What you should do? You just have to bring some gifts for them, that's all. I'm not sure how many orphans they are going to bring over, but I assumed that there are no limit nor minimum number of how many gifts you wish to donate to them, merely it's up to you to figure out. A pencil box or a can of biscuit will be good, seriously.

So, are you planning to join-in?

Yes, I am going since the Starbucks personally approached me and Renaye last Saturday. So, we are definitely going. If you are interested to come, why don't you tell me as soon as possible so that I can tell the Starbucks people that there will be more people that will tagging me along? Remember it is on 4th December 6pm at Berjaya Times Square.

What if you can't go?

If you can't go, why don't consider to donate some for the orphans as well. How? You see, I have several things that I am thinking to buy for them. However, I know everyone is living under a tight budget, therefore I will be happy if we all can gather a small portion of our money just for the charity. I mean we collect money together and we can buy something for them under the banner of Nuffnang bloggers or as a Malaysian youth!!

So what say you guys?

If you are interested to tag in for the event or to collectively buying something for the unfortunates, please give me an e-mail at bernardckv@hotmail.com, text me at 016-8480812, or leave me a comment on this post. Simply tell me that you are interested, and give some suggestion or ideas for what stuffs we should buy for the kids.

Seriously, this is no fraud or any scheme to cheat your money. This is merely a sincerity to help those who are unfortunates. Let's proof to other people that bloggers and Malaysian youths are kind and care for the others.
Anyway, sorry because I didn't upload the picture of the ticket of invitation because it is in Renaye's hand at the moment.

STARBUCKS KEEP ON REMINDING ME THAT CHRISTMAS IS COMING

It's still November and there are roughly 6 weeks before that day of the year again when the Christmas Day is going to be celebrated by all of us. Either Christmas serves as a celebration of religiously to accept the birth of Jesus or merely a festival of winter and family gathering, the Christmas is always been an unique celebration of joy and happiness. Recently, the mood for Christmas is back again and as usual is early than what you may have thought. The best thing is that those feel good mood for Christmas and the year ending cheer mood will never be the same if....

Starbucks....

do not introduce something new into their menu list!!

In conjunction with the Christmas celebration, Starbucks have come out with three new drinks to blend the holiday season.

First in the list is Toffee Nut Frappuccino. Toffee is confection made by boiling molasses or sugar along with butter and flour, and always been, as in this case mixed with nuts or raisins. Toffee Nut is an exquisite drink but I find it quite mediocre, so-so and another variation of normal frappuccino with whipped cream on top but been added an extra toffee and nuts on it. I won't say it is disappointing but it sure good to have it while your Christmas mood is swinging in. Aroma is well balanced, the taste is bold and lingers.

The second on the list is the sister of Frappuccino - Toffee Nut Latte. I haven't quite tasted it yet but I can say this - imagine milk coffee with the toffees. Hmmm...I'm imaginating it right now.

The last on the list which I think it should be a popular beverage at the moment is the Dark Cherry Mocha Frappuccino. I remembered last time when they had this Dark Mocha Frapp, which kind of bolder and darker version of Mocha Frapp. It was good but some may find the boldness of chocolate compound was way too heavy. This one will be my next on list of to try stuff and it should be bold but smooth in flavour upon my expectation.

Also, besides the three concurrent beverage of the season, Starbucks is also selling the new coffee bean (not really new, but is a kind of tradition every year) - The Starbucks Christmas Blend. Of what I can remember, this special beans come only around this year. Those beans are gathered from all regions - which make it a mixed or multi-regional coffee beans that have been stored for years.

Well, too bad my Starbucks Passport. Due to my busy and hectic schedule, I barely tried anything new over the past two months. Maybe after the exam or so!! Talking about Christmas beevrage, I just remembered - what happened to the last year's Proline Frappuccino? It was good I remembered.

Well, try the new beverage at the nearest Starbucks Coffee...the ebeverage should be in until January next year before Chinese New Year kicks in.
